Looking to remove wax from your carpets? There are a huge range of carpet stains, all of which require an individual approach to fully remove them. Some are easier to remove, and some are more challenging. Candle wax can be straightforward to remove.
However, when we arrived at this job it turned out that the candle wax was red in colour and it had set solid.
We were therefore faced with the challenge of successfully removing the wax stain as well as the red colour that had absorbed into the carpet. Successful removal of the wax, but not the red colour underneath would not have been acceptable. We set to work to fully remove the wax and the red dye.
Did you know that red dye is one of the most challenging carpet stains? The conditions need to be exactly right. This is where experience pays dividends. Without the knowledge of how to approach the carpet cleaning job, an unsatisfactory result is likely, and damage is possible.
There are specialist procedures that we use to remove dye stains. This can involve a heat transfer process with spot stain removal techniques.
This does demand a more in-depth process and requires more time. The second image shows how we were able to completely remove the wax and the red colour it had left behind.
Here are some top tips to remove wax or other carpet stains:
- Scrape up any solids
- Blot up liquid carefully
- Make sure to use cleaning solutions that you are confident will not damage your carpet
- Make sure to test any products on an inconspicuous area of your carpet
- Work from the outer edge of the stain towards the centre
- Try hard not to over wet any stain
- Do not scrub at any stain, instead dab the area
